Instrumental Music Program

The Instrumental Music Program allows children to have private instrumental tuition at school.  Lessons are of 25 minute duration and lesson times are fixed.  Parents pay tuition fees set by the school directly to the tutors.  Children from Level 1 to Level 6 are able to participate in the program.

Ensemble Program

The Ensemble Program is provided by the school as an extension to private tuition.  Children from Level 3 to Level 6 who play confidently have the opportunity of joining a school ensemble.

Festival Singers Program

Children from Level 4 to Level 6 can be involved in the Festival Choir which performs at choral festivals and the wider community.

Classroom Music

In the early years the program involves games and activities relating to singing and ear training. Children read and write rhythms as well as relating music to their everyday experiences. From Level 3 to Level 6 children play instruments formally and use computer technology to compose musical ideas. Drama and dance are also strong components of the classroom program.

Performing Arts

In the early years the program involves games and activities relating to singing and ear training using Kodaly and Orff methods. Students read and write rhythms as well as relating music to their everyday experiences.

Recorder lessons commence in Levels 3 and 4. Students are given weekly homework in music theory and recorder technique.

Dance and drama are also strong components of the classroom music program.

In Levels 5 and 6, students play instruments in classroom ensemble situations and use computers to notate their musical understandings. Students are asked to bring the instrument they are learning to each class.

All students use computer technology to enhance their learning, communicate their music and dance ideas and create music works for performance.

Throughout the school, students are encouraged to participate in the choral program. Choirs and instrumental groups perform at assemblies, evening concerts and the Festival Singers perform at choral festivals and community events.

Performances for each year level are also held throughout the year.
